Meditation can be a state of focused or mindful attention, which may include the use of a sitting posture, imagery, mantras, observation and control of the breath, and/or allowing thoughts to emerge and pass without becoming enagaged with them. The deep relaxation of meditation may heal the body, quiet the mind, and provide a sense of inner balance. Spirtuality, meditation is sometimes practiced to attain higher level consciousness and the realization of the transcendent within each of us, or practiced to still the mind and allow greater clarity and awareness to emerge.
